If you haven't yet found your unique purpose, perhaps it's time to apply the following step-by-step procedure for exploring your feelings and the many choices you have to carve out a unique space in the universe. Read on to see how you can get to the heart of the matter and get down to the business of creating your best life.Three steps to bliss
There are essentially three steps to discovering your own unique life purpose and path. You need to:- Understand the principle and role of choice in your life
- Create your underlying principle(s)
- Align your life with that underlying principle or principles
Choices, choices
Norman Vincent Peale emphatically states regarding the power of choice, "The greatest power we have is the power of choice. It is an actual fact, that if you have been groping under unhappiness, you can choose to be joyous instead. And, by effort, lift yourself into joy. If you tend to be fearful, you can overcome that misery by choosing to have courage. The whole trend and the quality of anyone's life is determined by the choices that are made." Choice is one of the most important activities that you will engage in throughout life. By making choices, you are declaring the desires of your subconscious mind. Once these "strong" suggestions have been communicated to the subconscious, they will literally move heaven and earth to manifest them in your life. Your choices become your goals, and if you are sincere and passionate about pursuing them, there is no reason that you will not see success. Indecision is the enemy of choice, and it will frustrate you and cause the antithesis of your intended outcome. By following the whisperings and longings of the heart, you learn to make choices that are right and best for you, and these choices will never lead you astray. What is it that you like to do? What makes you feel good? What inspires you? What will you pursue no matter what the obstacle? Make a list of these things, and go after them with reckless abandon.Creating underlying principles
Examine your list of "best" choices for your life. Are there recurring themes? Perhaps it's charitable giving that keeps coming up or a cause that you deem worthy of following to the end of your days. Craft a mission statement that states your intention concisely, and post it where you can let it drive your daily actions. Know that your mission statement is likely to change over time, particularly as you grow and evolve. It will be one of the most important steps you take toward uncovering your true purpose.Align your life with your underlying principle and mission
As you ponder your mission statement daily, ask yourself the following questions:- What action steps do I need to take to make this manifest?
- What changes do I need to make in my life right now to move forward?
- What or who do I need to let go of to accomplish these goals?
- Am I willing to do the work needed to facilitate change?
- If I accomplish this mission statement, will that make me happy?
- Do I LOVE my mission, my purpose?
- What is my purpose?
